When God Spoke!
From BSF:
Man has wanted to get rid of God, to push Him out of his life. In comtemporary terms he is saying, "God, I just want you to leave me alone. Take a seat on that chair over there. Shut up, and let me get on with my life as I want to live it." And so God does! Like the father of the Prodigal Son, He releases the rebellious child, permitting him to depart with all his many possessions and goods for the far country.
Isnt that what we want? It is what we think we want, but the problem is that it does not turn out as we anticipate. In fact, it turns out exactly the reverse. We think of God as a miser of happiness, keeping back from us all that would make us happy. We think that by running away from Him we will be happy, wild and free. Instead of happiness we find misery. Instead of freedom we find sin's bondage.

Really? I thought that modern man thinks of God as a genie... "God, with all due respect, please bless me with... "
And most of time, its one directional so we prob don't sit long enough to hear what God even wants for us?
Well, but God sometimes withold these "blessings" cos he knows its not good for us... but very often we dnt see that part of things ....sometimes we end up blaming God....and I do agree with the one directional part...sometimes we are jus too caught up in our own world to hear fr Him.
I think that modern man isn't so much God-conscious as the nominal Christian is. the secular person on the street doesn't care less about whether God exists or not - he just wants food on the table, a pillow underneath his head, and lots of money.
And yes the ignorant Christian tends to think of God of just one who blesses and never disciplines. so he pray prosperity prayers & never wishes to get into trials, altho it's explicitly stated that trials are good for man cos they produce perseverence. James 1.
sad. but true.
